What it means to be ISO 45003 certified

What is ISO 45003?

The international governing body for Occupational health and Safety has recognised the impact COVID-19 has had on employee wellbeing and mental health.

With many workplaces not having readily available employee wellbeing support, ISO 45003 was released to mandate the management of psychosocial risks and promoting well-being within the workplace.

ISO 45003 is an extension of the ISO 45001 that was release in 2018 as the world’s first international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. This highlighted that all businesses must have a wellbeing and mental health management system in place.

Who is ISO?

ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. They are a worldwide federation of national standards bodies. The ISO technical committee develop and promote international standards for relevant areas lacking guidelines. These include technology, scientific testing processes, working conditions, societal issues and more. – Mead Metals Inc

“Every organisation has occupational health and safety responsibilities, and the current pandemic has brought into sharp focus the important role that psychological health in the workplace plays,” – Norma McCormick (Project Leader of the ISO technical committee)
